Write for us

We welcome pitches for original, reader-first work about outdoor leisure, low-cost pastimes, local places, resourceful planning and making ordinary gear last. Send proposals through the Contact page and select editorial question or general, as appropriate.

Pitch a distinct idea

A useful proposal names its subject, the reader it serves and the main point the piece will make. Explain what makes the idea specific, what practical choices it will help readers consider and how it differs from familiar advice or another proposed topic.

Keep it grounded

We favour clear explanations, comparisons, histories and adaptable ideas that do not require expensive purchases or special access. Tell us what sources or experience inform the proposal, and flag any uncertainty, local variation or potential safety concern rather than smoothing it over.

Original work and next steps

Pitches should be your own and should not rely on invented scenes, unsupported claims or promotional copy. A proposal is not a guarantee of publication. Please use the Contact page to send it; do not include private information that is not needed to consider the idea.

Our point of view

The outdoors is not a shopping list

A walk, a pocket notebook or a familiar park can be enough. We look for ways to make time outside rewarding without treating new gear as the starting point.
